HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE AIR FORCE SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNICAL INFORMATION PROGRAM

Abstract

Discussed are the objectives of the program and the responsibilities of the Air Force Focal Point, assigned to OAR in July 1967, as follows: represent the USAF at DDR and E Focal Point Meetings; improve the availability and expedite the dissemination of scientific and technical information; review and revise Air Force regulations as needed, and maintain an inventory of scientific and technical information activities, facilities, and personnel. Discussed are various experimental studies being conducted by OAR: SCAN (selected Current Aerospace Notices), Clearinghouse Announcements in Science and Technology, Tech Barriers Documentation Study, and the Time-Shared Computer Study. Also briefly listed are some of the COSATI (Committee On Scientific And Technical Information, Federal Council for Science and Technology) activities of OAR. The Defense Documentation Center (DDC) plans for the future are explained, including primary distribution of publications and remote access to the DDC data store. Finally, the latest information on DDC user charges is presented.
