CONTROL OF THE IMMUNOGENIC PROPERTIES OF PURIFIED ADSORBED STAPHYLOCOCCAL TOXOIDS IN EXPERIMENTS USING WHITE MICE,
Abstract
Natural antibodies to staphylococcal toxin are absent in the blood of white mice. Simplicity, low cost and no necessity for the preliminary selection of non-immune animals make it possible to recommend white mice as models for determining the immunogenic properties of purified adsorbed staphylococcal toxoids. Toxoids which, following a double (with a 10-day interval) intramuscular immunization (0.5 ml each), cause the appearance of no less than 3 AU/ml in the serum of mice can be considered as immunogenic.
