SYNCHRONOUS PROPAGATION OF MICROORGANISMS AS A METHOD OF STUDYING THEIR BIOLOGY (REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE)
Abstract
During the past 10 years synchronized reproduction has been observed in microbes, protozoans, algae, tissue culture cells. The microorganisms studied included the intestinal bacteria, mouse typhus salmonellas, pneumococci, and diphtheria bacteria. The methods of synchronous propagation are numerous and varied. They can be divided into three large groups according to the nature of the action: mechanical selection, physical, and chemical-biological.
