CATAMNESIS OF PSYCHOTIC STATES IN THE COURSE OF PAPPATACI FEVER,

Abstract

Examinations were made 12 years ago in the Neuropsychiatric Clinic in Belgrade of 15 patients with acute psychotic episodes in the course of pappataci fever; these persons had previously been healthy. Observations are given in connection with these patients. After 11 years a catamnestic investigation was made in the case of ten former patients who after this period of time could be found. An analysis was made of the results of this investigation. Of the ten subjects only two persons considered themselves completely healthy in the period which had passed, and for the other eight there were definite permanent or episodic disorders, to the extent of recurrence of the psychosis. The depressive coloring of the original psychotic episode always predetermined a future relapse of the depressive type. Other elements (age, hereditary, organic signs, premorbid personality) were not of uniform significance. (Author)
