AN INVESTIGATION OF THE STABILITY OF PLANE FRAMES USING THE TECHNIQUES OF MATRIX STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS,

Abstract

The investigation deals with the problem of the buckling of plane frames. The general problem solved is that for frames with a geometry such that the axial load in the members is not dependent upon the deflected shape of the frame. The solution technique used follows the general outline of the matrix displacement method. The stability problem resolves itself into the determination of loads for which the stiffness matrix becomes singular. (Author)
