AUTOMATIC DESIGN OF OPTIMUM HOLE REINFORCEMENT,

Abstract

The document contains the complete text and illustrations of the paper entitled 'Automatic Design of Optimum Hole Reinforcement' by R. N. Karnes and J. L. Tocher, delivered at the ASCE Joint Specialty Conference on 'Optimization and Nonlinear Problems.' The conference was held at the Conrad Hilton Hotel, Chicago, Illinois, April 18-20, 1968, and the oral presentation was by R. N. Karnes. A computer program which finds the minimum weight reinforcement for planar structures within the constraints of allowable thicknesses and stresses is described. Two examples are given of structures designed by the program. (Author)
