ANALYSIS OF SIGNAL PROCESSING IN A TWO-ELEMENT ANTENNA ARRAY USING HYBRID JUNCTIONS,

Abstract

The purpose of the analysis contained in this report is a quantitative evaluation of the processing of antenna signals by means of hybrid junctions. A method is described for obtaining the scattering parameters of the hybrid junction and associated components. The analysis is carried out using flow graph methods. Section 1 of the report is devoted to the development of the relevant equations and experimental procedures. Section 2 is devoted to the evaluation of the scattering parameters of the hybrid junction. First, measurement procedures and calculations for input impedances are described. It is then shown how these values serve as intermediate steps for the final calculation of the scattering parameters. A tabulation of data, both measured and computed, is presented at the end of this part. In Section 3 a comparison is made of the scattering parameters for two different hybrids. (Author)
