AN ANALYSIS OF SUBSURFACE CURRENTS AND TEMPERATURES AT A SITE ON THE CONTINENTAL SHELF OF THE NORTHEAST UNITED STATES,

Abstract

The study has three objectives, namely: to analyze subsurface current velocities in order to enhance prediction, to analyze subsurface temperatures for the presence of characteristic frequencies, and to investigate the interaction of currents and temperature variability. These objectives are expected to benefit the acoustician in his study of the temporal variability of transmission loss, the oceanographer in his study of coastal circulation and internal waves, and the fisheries researcher in his study of environmental effects on fish location.
