LOAD TRANSFER: A PROBLEM IN LOGISTICS.

Abstract

The paper examines the problem of load transfer over a relatively long distance by means which consume food or fuel under a steady-state condition. The object was to show that of various ways, the conventional way of carrying the load and food (or fuel) by the same unit over the whole distance and then returning to repeat the cycle is not so effective as, for instance, separating the functions of load and food (or fuel) carrying and arrange the load transfer by shuttling it over relatively short distances, which results in a more effective scheduling of the whole process.
