REFINEMENT OF AIRCRAFT ASSEMBLY TECHNIQUE. PART III,

Abstract

The over-all assembly of an airplane is the most important final step in the process of manufacturing airplanes. Recently, in order to increase the aircraft production rate and shorten the period of production, many people have developed several methods. Many new techniques have been introduced into aircraft final assembly work. This is reflected in the extensive application of electronic equipment and other special devices and also electronic test instruments. In the area of industrial technology, most countries have been devoting their efforts to increasing production tempo and lowering of production time. Basically, this involves the following characteristics: a large amount of airplane assembly work divided into several stages and completed independently; improvement of mechanization and standardization of equipment in final aircraft assembly plants; and complex testing techniques.
