A LARGE RADIO-RADAR TELESCOPE: CAMROC DESIGN CONCEPTS. VOLUME II

Abstract

The document summarizes the engineering design studies relating to a large, fully steerable radio telescope. Engineering and economic considerations are detailed which led to the use of a radome to protect a 400-foot diameter, 5- cm, fully steerable parabolic antenna. The electromagnetic performance of the metal spaceframe radome is discussed in detail, and the design of five different parabolic reflector configurations is described.
