THE DICHROISM AND BIREFRINGENCE OF POLYMER CONTAINING CONJUGATED POLYENE SEQUENCES, III.

Abstract

In previous publications, the dichroism and birefringence of rubber-like networks composed of polymer chains containing conjugated polyene segments were discussed. The previous treatments are based to a considerable extent on the Kuhn-Grun theory of birefringence for rubber networks. In this paper, the same problem is discussed applying the treatment of polymer configuration by Hill and of bond orientation by Saito. (Author)
