MEASURED AND PREFORMED PHOSPHATE IN THE GULF OF MEXICO REGION.

Abstract

Measured and preformed phosphate-phosphorous versus depth are presented for three recent cruises to the Gulf of Mexico region. Phosphate characteristics of the Subtropical Underwater, Subantarctic Intermediate Water and the North Atlantic Deep water are identified. Apparent oxygen utilization (AOU) versus measured phosphate are presented for three cruises. Measured phosphate versus AOU and both measured and preformed phosphate versus depth are discussed for a hypothetical idealized station in the Gulf of Mexico. (Author)
