MERCURY ARC PLASMA TUBE DIAGNOSTIC STUDY. PART II. MICROWAVE PROBE STUDY,

Abstract

This report presents the results of a microwave diagnostic study performed on a mercury arc plasma tube. Utilizing a microwave reflection technique, the electron density in the tube was calibrated as a function of the arc current. Comparison of the results with Langmuir probe measurements previously reported shows good agreement. An outline of the theory pertaining to this study is also included. (Author)
