STALL PROPAGATION IN A CASCADE OF AIRFOILS.

Abstract

The report is a theoretical approach to the study of the rotating stall in blade rows of axial compressors. An ideal straight cascade of infinite length is considered, its aerodynamic coefficients in incompressible stationary flow are assumed known against angle of upstream flow from axial direction, also in the field of angles larger than the stalling one. The blades are infinitely small and infinitesimally spaced. By these conditions, velocity of stall propagation, length to pitch ratio of stall cells, mean values of stream velocity and angle of flow inside and outside stall cells, and pressure ratio from upstream to downstream of the cascade, can be calculated.
