FASTENING OF TUBES IN TUBE BANKS OF STEAM GENERATING UNITS AND HEAT EXCHANGE APPARATUS BY ELECTRIC HIGH VOLTAGE DISCHARGES,

Abstract

As the parameters of the working fluids in marine steam generating units and heat exchange apparatus increase, the demands for the quality of rolled joints also rise. Joints produced using electric arc discharges are of high strength and tightness. The method of tube fastening based on the usage of electric discharge allows the operating mode to be controlled by changing the electric current parameters and allows the production of joints with predetermined strengths. This method allows tubes to be fastened at points not accessible for fastening by mechanical roll working. (Author)
