FINE STRUCTURE OF MEIOTIC CHROMOSOMES.

Abstract

The research performed during the grant period was destined to establish the basement for the future development of the project. Experiments were conducted in three different lines: I. Incorporation of tritium labelled thymidine in living animals (Gryllus argentinus); II. Culturing isolated testicular tubes of the same species in view of using inhibitors of the deoxiribonucleic acid and of protein synthesis; III. Irradiation of specimens at the larval stage (prior to the beginning of meiotic prophase) and electron microscope examination of the cells fixed at varied intervals of time after irradiation.
