ADRENAL ADENOMAS IN THE GOAT.

Abstract

This report summarizes the observations made on the cortical adenomas from the adrenal glands of 2500 white angora goats. Five hundred cortical adenomas were found in 316 goats. This high incidence parallels the high incidence of castration in this goat population. The majority were less than 2 mm in size; there was a lower incidence of larger tumors indicating an increased incidence with age. Three different cell types occurred in these adenomas; they are described and it is hypothesized that these cells had a common genesis. No tumors having metastases occurred; marked cellular atypia in several tumors suggested a diagnosis of carcinoma in situ. (Author)
