A RAPID METHOD OF LONG-TERM DEVOCALIZATION OF DOGS.

Abstract

Forty to fifty dogs per hour were devocalized by burring to remove the mucosa of the laryngeal ventricle and severing the vocal cords with an electrocautery knife. This procedure results in significantly greater noise suppression two to three months after debarking than does merely severing the vocal cords. (Author)
