ESTIMATION OF RELIABILITY. VOLUME. 1,

Abstract

Modern systems are designed to meet specific requirements. Individual specifications are written for each of the equipment components of the system. But satisfactory equipment component operation is not sufficient. The various man-machine links must also meet certain minimum requirements in order that the entire system achieve success. Anticipated cost and complexity of equipment is often justified on the basis of the importance and urgency of the need. In a very real sense this same need justifies careful and complete specification of each of the operating portions of the system, including the man-machine links as well as successive analyses which demonstrate that the intended performance-objective will be met. This volume discusses the estimation of system reliability and the estimation of item reliability.
