DEVELOPMENT OF MAXIMUM WELDING SPEEDS FOR OPTIMUM QUALITY PRODUCTION WELDING.

Abstract

The report compares the welding speed, joint efficiency, internal weld quality and external weld quality of tests on type 321 stainless steel and type N155 material welded by the Tig, Mig, and Mig short arc welding processes. From this comparison mechanical information was obtained to furnish engineering design data and information necessary to intelligently select the proper welding process. This will result in a finished welding product meeting the required quality specifications, thus enabling the user to realize maximum production yields. Appendix 1 of this report contains tabulated engineering design data, parent material tensile data and welding speed comparison curves. (Author)
