THE OCCULTATION OF THE CRAB NEBULA BY THE SOLAR CORONA IN JUNE, 1960.

Abstract

Observations of the occultation of the Crab Nebula by the solar corona were made in June, 1960. These observations were made at the Clark Lake radio astronomy station at a wavelength of 11.4 meters. They are very similar to those made in 1959 and reported previously. Most of these observations were again obtained with a fan beam antenna whose response pattern measures 1.5 deg. E-W and 30 deg. N-S. The radio noise output of this antenna was determined with a comparison radiometer which measured the difference between the antenna noise and the output of a regulated noise source. (Author)
