A 2ev ARGON BEAM: SCATTERING AT A SOLID SURFACE AND OBSERVATIONS OF RADIATION ACCOMPANYING THE BEAM,

Abstract

Results are presented showing what appears to be a transient behaviour in the scattering of a 2.14 eV argon beam from a glass target with an adsorbed gas layer. Approximately 10 to the 15th power atoms per sq. cm. strike the surface during the experiment. Results are also presented showing ultraviolet radiation emanating from the nozzle source of the beam.
