DIRECT FM-TAPE-TO-DIGITAL CONVERSION.

Abstract

A direct conversion of FM tape recordings which is entirely digital from the modulator to the approximation function used in computer analysis is described. This system is compared with the usual analog-voltage-to-digital conversion system; the new digital system is almost always better. An extended direct system is discussed; this has almost twice the response and accuracy of the other two systems. (Author)
