ALL-BAND TACAN ANTENNA FOR VORTAC FACILITIES.

Abstract

The report contains a discussion of the theoretical and experimental concepts involved in the design and development of an All-Band TACAN Antenna. The basic design involves using driven radiating elements exclusively to obtain the required radiation characteristics, rather than the combination of driven and parasitic elements presently employed. Details of the theoretical analysis undertaken to determine the element driving characteristics are presented, together with a design description of the antenna radiating structure and feed system. Photographs of the prototype antenna and typical experimental data are included, and the conclusions resulting from the theoretical and experimental effort are discussed. (Author)
