EFFECT OF GRINDING PROCEDURES ON THE LIFE OF METAL CUTTING TOOLS.

Abstract

The life of reconditioned cutting tools varies greatly with the importance placed on proper techniques, methods and procedures employed within the individual grinding shop. This report presents the results of a survey made to determine what has been done by industry to establish reliable procedures for reconditioning cutting tools. It also discusses the detrimental effect to the metallurgical structure of high speed steel tools when improper grinding practices are employed. (Author)
