RECOMBINATION RATES OF THERMAL IONS.

Abstract

Accurate potential energy curves for the hydrogen molecule were constructed. The potential energy data is used to calculate the cross section for H(-) + H(+) yield H + H using the Landau-Zener theory. A multi-state impact parameter theory for the above process is given. Accurate values of the matrix elements needed in the multi-state calculations are given. A computer program for solving the multi-state equations has been constructed and tested. (Author)
