POLYGONAL AND SWEPT-BACK PLATES WITH CUT-OUTS AND COLUMN SUPPORTS,
Abstract
A general computer method is presented of solving a very wide range of swept-back wing and skew bridge problems with any boundary conditions and loadings, with or without any number of cut-outs and elastic column supports. New computer formulae, or algorithms, are established for polar and symmetrical edge-function biharmonics and these provide an extraordinarily rich source of complementary functions for adjusting to any prescribed boundary conditions. A single computer program caters for all cases, the only inputs being a coded specification of the boundary conditions, locations for loading and columns, and a subroutine to give the plate-shape.
