COMPREHENSIVE TESTING OF GROUND SUPPORT TACTICAL CABLES,

Abstract

The paper discusses test procedures used for evaluating electrical and mechanical characteristics of ground support tactical cables. It explains the tests necessary for each cable type and why each test was chosen. It discusses, in detail, test methods used and the reasons for their use. A comparison of tests necessary for development of new cable designs versus tests for manufacturing of cables is discussed. Diagrams of test setups are included and results of tests shown. Because many tests may be conducted using various procedures, a comparison of test methods is included. Problems involved and their individual resolutions are high-lighted. (Author)
