POTENTIAL METHODS IN ELASTICITY THEORY,

Abstract

A sketch is given of results obtained by extending Fredholm's method to systems of singular integral equations in the solution of boundary value problems arising in the application of potential theory to the theory of elasticity. Existence of theorems are stated and proved for boundary value problems for piecewise-nonhomogeneous bodies and for mixed problems, and their extension from the static to the dynamic case is briefly described.
