THE BIRTH OF A NEW AIRPLANE,

Abstract

The author describes the procedures taken in new aircraft development. Aerodynamic analysis, structural design, stress analysis, and wind tunnel tests constitute part of the work in aircraft design. Mockups are built for static tests and fatigue tests before the project goes into pilot production. Flight tests are required before final acceptance by the National Evaluation Committee. (Author)
