EXPERIENCE OF ORGANIZATION AND METHODS OF TOPOGRAPHIC INTERPRETATION IN MOUNTAIN REGIONS (OPYT ORGANIZATSII I METODIKI TOPOGRAFICHESKOGO DESHIFRIROVANIYA V GORNYKH RAYONAKH),

Abstract

The paper is a study of the procedure used to interpret the topography in mountain regions. Topographic maps at 1:25000, 1:100000 and 1:300000 scales and photogrammetric materials are obtained from the cartographic plant. Reference material, directories, bulletins, road maps, etc., are also sent. Special courses are set up for less experiences topographers. Preliminary office interpretation is begun with outlining the useful areas on the aerophotographs and plotting the trapezoid frames. Aerial photographs are examined and marked. On the average of from 25 to 30 linear km of route field classification is projected for one trapezoid. The projected routes are transferred onto a reproduction of the preliminary compilation. Airplanes and helicopters are used where survey areas are difficult to reach. The results of the preliminary office interpretation are supplemented and improved with the aid of the field classifocations. (Author)
