HUMAN ENGINEERING RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE INSTRUCTORS' STATION OF THE F4H-1 WEAPONS SYSTEM TRAINER.
Abstract
The basic problem in the study was to provide human engineering recommendations on the configuration, approximate dimensions and content of the instructors' station for the F4H-1 weapons system trainer, and location and arrangement of controls and displays for use by the instructors. As visualized by the contractor, this trainer is to be utilized primarily to provide team training for the pilot and radar navigator (R/N) of the F4H-1 aircraft. The trainer will provide facilities for team training in emergency procedures, normal procedures, instrument procedures, mission rehearsal, and tactics, both bombing and intercept functions. The report describes the manner in which this problem was approached, the procedures employed in arriving at recommendations, drawings of the general configuration of the instructors' station, and photographs of a mock-up of the work space and the layout of groups of controls and indicators and arrangement of controls and indicators in some of the groups of this station.
