COMMUNICATION FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENT FOR SIGNALLING, DISPATCHER CENTRALIZATION, AND BLOCKING ON THE ABAKAN-TAYSHET RAILROAD,

Abstract

One of the major komsomol-youth construction projects - the Abakan-Tayshet rail line - has been completed and placed in operation. This marks the first time that an important rail link has been electrified by the AC system and equipped with the latest advances in automation, remote-control mechanical devices, and communications directly during the construction stage. This article reports on the radically new techniques adopted in the communications and signal-dispatcher-blocking systems on this line, and also discusses certain considerations having to do with a number of problems of adjustment and regulation.
