OMEGA NAVIGATION PERFORMANCE OFF NORTHWEST AFRICA DURING OPERATION NO. 267, APRIL 23-MAY 28, 1968.

Abstract

A Tracor 599R Omega receiver was operated in the region between the Canary Islands and the Cape Verde Islands off northwest Africa almost continuously for five weeks during April and May 1968. The unit generally tracked consistently during daylight hours. Inconsistencies in tracking repeatedly appeared during certain nighttime hours. Positional inaccuracies up to about plus or minus 5 nautical miles were indicated by comparison of the Omega fixes with fixes obtained by other navigational methods. (Author)
