INTENSIVE RESEARCH IN PROBABILITY THEORY.

Abstract

During the period of this Grant AF-AFOSR 1318-67, 25 Sep 67 through 24 Sep 68, the principal investigator, D. A. Freedman, solved three of four proposed problems on Markov chains: describing the semigroup, constructing the sample functions and interpreting the derivative. This work has been published; abstracts and references are incorporated in this Report. The principal investigator also completed a joint paper with D. Blackwell on an auxiliary question, which has been accepted for publication. An abstract is incorporated in this Report. The principal investigator also completed the first draft of a monograph on Markov processes, wrote a second draft and is presently writing a third draft. It is expected that this monograph will be published in some eighteen months, by Holden-day of San Francisco, California. (Author)
