WELD SHRINKAGE AND DISTORTION OF SEVERAL ALLOYS.

Abstract

A series of nine high temperature alloys were welded using the semi-automatic TIG process. Longitudinal and transverse shrinkage was measured to establish shrink characteristics of each alloy. The results show that shrinkage is of sufficient magnitude that allowances will be necessary in designing for close tolerance welding. (Author)
