RESISTANCE (FOIL) SEAM WELDING OF BUTT JOINTS,

Abstract

The purpose of this project is to evaluate new welding techniques and to improve the mechanical properties when butt welding 301 full-hard stainless steels. The discussion includes an evaluation of a welding process accomplished by introducing a thin narrow strip of foil on both sides of the abutted work piece edges, and passing this joint between roller electrodes. The equipment used was a 90KVA three-phase welder. Five tests are discussed and tabulated data with photographs of sample welds applicable to each test are included. (Author)
