DETERMINATION OF DEFORMABILITY OF R18 STEEL AT HIGH LOAD VELOCITIES,

Abstract

The authors describe experimental studies conducted to determine the deformability of a high-speed tool steel under conditions of rapid loading. Ductility and resistance to deformation were determined during upsetting of cylindrical specimens between flat striking blocks. The results of these tests indicate that high rates of deformation are not detrimental to the quality of the tool steel. (Author)
