REPARABLE COMPONENT RETURN TIME TO OVERHAUL POINT. LMI REF. NO. M3.

Abstract

Studies have shown that a major contributor to excessive downtime for Army equipment is the length of time required to return unserviceable components, to a level of maintenance capable of returning the components to a serviceable condition. The importance of prompt return of these items is seen in AR 750-1, 'Maintenance Concepts', 21 Jun 1967, which states: 'Continuous command emphasis on the prompt evacuation of repairable unserviceable components and end items to direct support, general support and depot maintenance facilities is mandatory to enable timely maintenance contribution to materiel readiness.' The LMI proposes a system for expeditious return time. (Author)
