MRO DENIAL RATES. LMI REF. NO. S6.

Abstract

A materiel release order (MRO) is a requirement placed by an inventory control point on a storage activity to ship quantities of stock to fill a specific requisition. If the storage activity does not physically have, or cannot locate, the required item the result is a materiel release denial. A materiel release denial also occurs when the required item is on hand, but in insufficient quantity to meet the MRO requirement. A materiel release denial requires the issuance of another MRO, thus multiplying paper work and delaying the filling of the requisition. It also requires the storage activity to take a special inventory and report the results. (Author)
