FORMATTING PROGRAMS FOR SIMPLIFYING DATA REDUCTION WITH THE PDP-8 FLOATING-POINT SYSTEM.

Abstract

Several programs having the general name DARIC are described which simulate the reduction of data listed in columns as a function of a single variable, a form familiar to manual data tabulation and reduction in the laboratory. Data is entered at the Teletype ASR keyboard, and calculation is accomplished with the Digital Floating-Point System and the user's data reduction program. DARIC automatically increments the single variable, and contains features which simplify the organization of data from diverse and instrument outputs, the accounting of deleted data points, and the writing of the data reduction program. The programs are useful also in computing points for the plotting of theoretical functions. (Author)
