EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF SOME RADIATIVE DECAY MODES OF THE K(L) AND K(S) MESONS.

Abstract

A study of radiative decays of the neutral K mesons yielded the following limits with 90% confidence R(K(s) to 2 gamma rays)/R(K(s) to all)<1.2%, R(K(L) to pos. pion + neg. pion + gamma)/R(K(L) to all) <0.0056, and R(K(L) to neut. pion + 2 gammas)/R(K(L) to all) <0.00023. The branching ratio R(K(L) to 2 gammas)/R(K(L) to all) is found to be (5.0 plus or minus 0.6) x 10-4, based on 115 events observed with negligible background. (Author)
