FUTURE TRENDS IN CONSTRUCTION OF GEODETIC SIGNS (PERSPEKTIVNYE NAPRAVLENIYA V POSTROIKE GEOZNAKOV),

Abstract

A post-a pile type of foundation post is introduced. This type of post is driven into the ground by pile driving engine, jack hammer or capstan which screws it in. The foundation post represents a pile made of metal or reinforced concrete of definite length and diameter, which should be sunk into the ground to a depth of 2-4m. Rough estimates indicate that the laying of this kind of marker will require a crew of three men 2-3 hours to complete. The technique of erection of the observation points must make an allowance that some of the points will be for stations of the demountable and portable types. The new type of geodetic mark resting on a pile, the advanced technique of foundation laying, and the use of demountable or portable type signs subjected to durability test, will increase the productivity of the geodetic construction workers several times.
