APPLICATIONS OF ABEL TRANSFORMS TO THE NUMERICAL SOLUTION OF PROBLEMS IN ELECTROSTATICS AND ELASTICITY.

Abstract

Abel transforms are used to reduce equations arising in connection with certain axisymmetric mixed boundary value problems to a set of integral equations which can be solved numerically. A typical problem is the determination of stresses for the indentation of an elastic medium by a rough punch. (Author)
