SPLINE INTERPOLATION AND THE HIGHER DERIVATIVES.

Abstract

A result of F. Riesz is generalized leading to a characterization of those functions of one real variable which have a square integrable mth derivative. The theory of spline interpolation is the main tool in this investigation. (Author)
