CHARACTERISTICS OF THE BOUNDARY LAYER ON A CONE IN A ROTATING FLUID,

Abstract

In the case in question, the velocity profile of the laminar boundary layer is determined by a method analogous to the Pohlhausen method for a plane boundary layer. The system of integral relationships can be reduced to a system of two equations, of which one is algebraic and the other is a nonlinear ordinary differential equation of the first order. A diagram of the problem is shown. The article concludes with a calculation of the characteristics of the turbulent boundary layer in the case of an exponential velocity profile with an arbitrary power exponent. (Author)
