A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF REDUNDANCY TO INCREASE THE RELIABILITY OF INFORMATION SYSTEMS,

Abstract

Various methods of using redundancy for enhancing reliability of information systems are analyzed and compared. The mean time between failures is adopted as a single criterion of system reliability. Assumptions are system operation and failures permit describing the system by a simple uniform Markov chain with a finite number of states. The system states are determined by possible combinations of faulty and sound elements.
