FORCE EFFECT OF A UNIFORM ELECTRICAL FIELD ON A SINGLE FIBER,

Abstract

The purpose of the article is to discuss the theoretical possibility of devising an industrial textile process for aligning, straightening, and transporting individual fibers by means of an applied uniform electrical field. Because of the complex configuration of a fiber, a dielectric ellipsoid is substituted to calculate the approximate pondermotive forces. Equations of vector forces are constructed for each of the processes involved, but no actual devices are suggested. (Author)
