TOWARDS A THEORY OF THE NONLINEAR INTERACTION OF WAVES IN A PLASMA,

Abstract

A complete quantum mechanical development of phenomena of nonlinear interactions of waves in a plasma is given. After a presentation of fundamental equations of a definitive nature there follows a treatment of (1) probabilities of processes of second order; (2) probabilities of scattering processes; (3) scattering cross sections; (4) probabilities of disintegration processes; and (5) a study of certain special cases including the interaction of transverse waves and the interaction of longitudinal Langmuir waves in a plasma.
